Hello! I am Laura. Although my passport says Larysa, my family and closest friends have always called me Laura. For me, hearing this name means I am in a space of absolute trust, warmth, and authenticity.

My journey into British classical literature began in the most unexpected place. Years ago, while working as an accountant at a factory in Odesa, Ukraine, I accidentally discovered Jane Austen’s books in the factory’s small library. I fell so deeply in love with her first novel that I went on to find and read all six of her masterpieces. Whenever I needed to escape the monotony of daily routines and feel completely transported, I would open her books time and again, immersing myself in the elegant world of 18th-century England through her extraordinary talent.

My pen name, Laura Yakulka, holds a special memory from my childhood. In my native language, “Ya kulka” translates to “I am a Christmas bauble.” I dreamed up my very first stories as a little girl, sitting tucked away under the Christmas tree. Immersed in the glowing lights, beautiful glass ornaments, and the magical scent of pine, I would find a hidden spot for my dolls and build entire fairy-tale worlds for them. Even today, I feel the strongest rush of creative flow when I reconnect with that inner child. This is why I always look forward to Christmas—it is the time when magic feels real.

Now, living in the UK, I have brought these worlds together. Combining my lifelong passion for software and digital platforms with my love for Austen, I create interactive digital book-museums. My goal is to let readers not just read the classics, but truly step inside them—explore vibrant 19th-century drawing rooms, discover hidden golden guineas, and experience heritage in a whole new, immersive way. Welcome to my world!
